Zephyrus G16, Proart P16, Macbook pro m4

I need a laptop for college. I’m completely torn between these options. The zephyrus checks every box but I’m worried about the battery life for when I’m doing my normal school work and whatnot. I’m okay with carrying around a charger but I want the reliability of being able to unplug and go to classes without having to constantly worry about it. I’m also worried about the display because I know there is better displays out there that are maybe a little brighter, clearer, and/or more vibrant. The keyboard is also a mild concern point because I have had too much time to try it out at a best buy or anything. The ProArt has lumina pro or tandem OLED? I love that and its a major selling point. Im concerned about the battery life for this and the price. Im okay with connecting a monitor to it for 240 hz gaming. Im also not too sure if the Proart that I see online gets the tandem OLED. And then lastly the trusty MacBook. If this thing with combining gaming and productivity doesn’t work, I’ll just get the MacBook for pure productivity and school work. Is it worth waiting for the OLED touchscreen MacBook? Lastly, I know the 2026 zephyrus was announced with a much brighter screen or sustained brightness. Is it worth waiting for? When is it likely to release. Overall, these entice me because I hate hate hate the gamery and heavy look/feel. I like sleek and thin. The ability to game is super nice and ideal. A nice clear display is must have for any sort of movies, gaming, or media. A comfortable keyboard is pretty much a must have for my essays and writing based stuff. I would play primarily eSports titles like Fortnite, rocket league, valorant. However it would be nice to have AAA capability. I want something that will last me. Is there any other options I’m not considering like the yoga pro 9i aura edition? Looks decent but idk. If 240 hz isn’t available, I’m okay with spending a few hundred for a 240 htz gaming monitor. Budget is 2800 but that is very pushing it. preferably around 2600 or less. Im okay with buying refurbished or ultra high quality open box/used but that isn’t preferred.

If you want the essential laptop for college, it would be the MacBook Pro, but with M5 it provides the best battery life of any laptop, and it would play some games, but not all of them.

If you want Gaming and Productivity but also want a premium laptop, then choose the Zephyrus g16. To extend battery life, you can disable the GPU and tweak the CPU power consumption.

The Zephyrus has a great OLED screen for both gaming and productivity, but the one on the ProART, I believe, is superior. The better OLED 4K screen only comes in the maxed out variant of the P16, I think.

so the ProArt P16 is just a black Zephyrus G16 with AMD instead of Intel (they even use the same motherboard & heatsink!!!), the only difference it has with the Zephyrus is their screens:

  • the Zephyrus only ever comes in a 1600p 240Hz OLED screen; if you can get it under budget you really should take the RTX 5070Ti version
  • The RTX 5060/5070 version of the ProArt has a regular 1800p 120Hz OLED screen, and is the one on your budget
  • The RTX 5080/5090 version of the ProArt is the one with the 2400p 120Hz Tandem OLED, but it’s an absurdly expensive $4k laptop

Should i wait for the new zephyrus coming? I’m hearing about a new 2026 generation with brighter screens. How much brighter will it be
