I am currently a college student looking for a device to last me the next 3- 5 years. I was narrowing down at the Asus Proart P16 and the Rog Zephyrus G16. I heard that these laptops might be unreliable and may be bad purchases. I am looking to get a device within the next back-to-school sales and want to buy something that would be worth it.
The Proart is 5070 and the Zephyrus is 5070ti (I don’t do much gaming)
Then go for the Proart. You should not have any issues with it; if not, then go for a MacBook Pro. It will last you for a long time, and it will retain its value if you wanna sell it in the future.
Get a warranty first of all, that’s always a good thing to have. Plus, if it’s in-store, the store staff will have to deal with the wonderful fellows at ASUS tech support.
As for which to get, Proart has Ryzen and a touchscreen, Zephyrus has Intel (so Thunderbolt and probably better WiFi) and better graphics performance (5070TI also has a bigger die area so might have ever so slightly lower fan noise during light GPU tasks.
Refresh rates I couldn’t tell without knowing the P16’s panel, it has multiple options.
OK so, forgot to ask, is either of the two a 2026 model or a tandem-OLED variant? I seem to recall the P16 being brighter while the Zeph is 240hz, in which case the P16’s screen is superior.
Personally I think it comes down to the Zephyrus’s Intel WiFi (make sure to ask for confirmation though) which is a lot more stable, or the Proart’s screen, which should be touch and brighter.
ASUS is hit-or-miss, some of their stuff will last forever while some will crap the bed within a year. Which is why I strongly recommend a warranty, accidental damage especially so they’re forced to make good on any early faults.
