Yoga Slim 7i 14 $856 or Thinkpad X9 15 $1080 with same CPU? Or base MBA 13 for $873?

I found a very good deal on either laptop, just really stuck between the 2! If someone could help that would be awesome!
I am looking to buy for university Q3 2026, or perhaps wait for panther lake?
Both are intel ultra 5 226v (16gb + 512gb), with similar specs except:
Yoga Slim 7i (Cheaper by a decent bit $856)
14” 1200p OLED Non-Touch
70wh battery
1.2kg
No goodies

In a country I am going to next month I found:
Thinkpad X9 15 ($224 more, better overall hardware I believe)
15” 2.8k 120hz touchscreen,
80wh battery
1.4kg
Includes goodies like lenovo wireless mouse, wireless earphones and a laptop sleeve (cool I suppose!)

However for $1027 I can get a Yoga Slim 7i with Ultra 7 256v, 1TB (also with goodies), perhaps the closer comparison/what I am stuck on is with this $1027 laptop?
Here is the even bigger dilemma… I also found a base m4 macbook air 13 for $873? Though I have always been using windows, so I am not sure if I would like or hate having an android with a MB.
Thank you in advance!

It really depends on what you are going to study at university, which degrees are you applying for?

Thanks for your reply, potentially engineering will be the move intensive that I am thinking of, and others like business or science based degree, ultra 5 will probably do, which is why I am not fully sure if I want the thinkpad or the yoga.

ThinkPad X9 is the best value for money is very cheap compared to prices from a few months ago. It has a haptic trackpad and great keyboard. The only limitation would be the chip- lunar lake chips are meant for energy-efficiency and not performance. The ThinkPad is a business laptop and it’s built premium.

Second option could be the MacBook air- it’s like an ideal laptop. Good performance and great battery life. Only con is that it runs macos some people do not like macos.

ThinkPad is built superior to the yoga. If both have same chip then go for the ThinkPad. If the Lenovo yoga has a better chip than the ThinkPad (arrow lake) then go with the yoga.

Thank you for your response, I think as it is $53 less I will go for the higher ultra 7 256v spec of the yoga! Only thing that would make me consider the thinkpad is the fact that it has touchscreen and higher build quality.
I suppose base macbook air is okay but just to be safe maybe it’s not for me!

If the ThinkPad is just $53 more then for the touchscreen and the haptic trackpad- then I would definitely go for the ThinkPad X9. If possible go to a nearby store to compare laptops.

Sorry I know this sounds dumb, or wasting time, but turns out I found a discount code to get the yoga ultra 5 from $856 to $688! $400 difference to the thinkpad, definitely unbeatable now, I think I have decided! Thanks very much for the help!

Yeah go for it ! it’s a great buy
