My budget is 1.5 Lakh Inr (1,690.35 $) , so i need a laptop with good battery life and decent performance, with good build quality and display, no macs please.
I am choosing options from lenevo only, because i love thinkpads, and lenevo has great service in my city.
While Lenovo Thinkpads are a solid option, a lot of it depends on your use case. If you just want a thin and light laptop with good battery life, build quality, and display that can handle some light gaming, I think the Thinkpad X9 14 or 15 won’t be a bad option. While it is the most mac-like out of all the Thinkpads, it is still a solid laptop that can be easily had under $.1690.35 when on sale. Other than that, I’m not exactly an expert on other Thinkpads in this price range, so if any other people with more experise give you a better recommendation, let me know!
I think you should get a Lenovo 5i pro its probably the best one considering you’re from India. I did find a link to it on the indian website you can also game on it if you want
While the 5i pro is a good option, I’m a bit worried about the battery life that you get with that. However, I’m not sure, since the 5i pro offers such a large bump in performance in comparison. Your choice!
yeah, i feel the same, i have a gaming laptop already (gtx 1650), which i am going to upgrade in the end 2026 as i got a ps5 for GTA VI, but i need a thin/light laptop, i think macs do everything what i need, but i hate them, i hate macos, i use linux, thinkpads just feel right to me, i am personally confused between thinkpads, like should i go for x9 15 inch, t14s lunar lake, or t14s zen 5 amd, idk, pls help
Almost any Lunar Lake or Zen 5 AMD computer can be nice, just make sure to research it beforehand. I already gave my recommendations, but I feel like a lot of laptops could work with your situation (Thinkpad that is thin and light), and the ones I know best are out of your price range.
I’m a big fan of the X9 for all of its creature comforts, solid battery life, nice screen, premium feel, etc. It’s the one Josh lets me borrow for working from home and I love it. It is missing the red trackpoint and it doesn’t feel like a thinkpad to me, but the keyboard and haptic touchpad are great in spite of that. I’m not sure if you were more attached to the classic black thinkpad style because if so, I wouldn’t recommend the X9.
What size screen did you want? The 14 or 15? Also if you’re only using it for light use I’d get the core ultra 5 instead of the ultra 7 and save some money. These are both on a great sale right now (considering buying one for myself).
Hey Cierra, thanks for replying, I personally love the x9 15 inch model alot, but the problem is that the laptop costs alot here, like 2000 to 2100 dollars, and I don’t think my parents will allow that much for a laptop, I am still in school.
Understandable, I’m not super familiar with the markup over there after the sale price. I was hoping $1,200 would be low enough. If not, you might want to look for Lenovo certified refurbished ThinkPads or open box ones. That should still let you utilize their local services.
I need to confirm something before I give a suggestion:-
Do you want it within this month or are you okay waiting till January/February?
What is your use case, certain software you need it to run, etc? Suggestions depend on use case.
what kind of battery life you look forward to? 8+ or 10+ on video playback?
Suppose you cannot wait and you want a device powerful enough to code and play some small games with 8+ battery life on video playback.
I would suggest a Lenovo yoga pro 7. Or X1 carbon if you find one in that price point.
Honorary mentions:- Asus TUF F14 ( gaming laptop with great battery life) see josh’s review for this, Asus zenbook S14 (if you want a clean beautiful looking laptop).
Hey sorry for replying earlier, I had my IGCSE board, yeah, so I want a laptop with atleast 8 to 10 hours battery life while browsing, school stuff (powerpoint, libreoffice), listening music (spotify), discord. I will also play minecraft, edit videos (1080p or 4k depends, not heavy effect editing) when plugged in. I want it to be under 2 kg, cuz rn i have asus tuf f15 2021, and its heavy asf, runs hot, has gtx 1650 (support will end next year)
Also I will be reluctant to asus laptops, as they have horrible service in India.
This Lenovo yoga is my personal favourite, great display, amazing keyboard, I don’t like the touchpad, battery is decent.
You can also get the yoga in the lunar lake processors if you prefer battery life or you can have AMD options as well.
If you can use your Asus TUF for 3-4 months more, then you can buy the newer Lenovo laptop that will have the panther lake processor inside. I am sure you have seen josh’s video on panther lake cpus. I would suggest you to wait till Jan or Feb.
I will buy in march, most panther lakes will get released, so yeah, I am obviously going to wait, till then I am selling my tuf f15 in exchange for a t14 gen 2 or t14 gen 3 (not 100% sure whether i am going to this)
