The Confusion Around the 5070ti

There are several reviews for the 5070ti laptops and compared to other gpus, this seems to be there sweet spot for the price. However, this is a gpu that has a wide tgp and laptops ranging from 60watts to 140watts. With all these reviews out there, no one seems to answer a specific question, whats the best 5070ti laptop? My question is this, is there a huge performance difference between a 115watt 5070ti (Acer Predator Helios Neo 16s AI) and a 140watt 5070ti (Lenovo Legion Pro 7I)? Theres a review that compares the Acer with a 5070ti and a Lenovo legion pro 7i with a 5080 but those are two drastically different cards. The Acer 5070ti and Lenovo 5070ti priced different and the lenovo is about $500 or so more expensive. Is it worth it?

Its not easy to say a laptop is “best” cause it depends a lot on the price that it is atm, ur battery requirements etc, in this case, assuming the cpus are the same, the real difference would be significant as the 5070ti really benefits from the extra tgp

The reasonn is, there is not “Best 5070 Ti” laptop. It depends what’s important to you.

Best portable 5070 Ti laptop = Zephyrus G16, but you must accept lower wattage to the GPU

Best 5070 Ti laptop that is somewhat portable and reasonably priced = Predator Neo 16S but you must accept that its a larger laptop and has terrible battery life

Best 5070 Ti laptop that performs well and is reasonably priced = Asus Strix G16 with AMD 3D chip Zen 5 ←- We list this model on this site

I hope you understand what i’m saying here. It really depends on your use case

I think the bigger problem is the 8 GB of vRAM below the 5070 Ti gets you. If we already are seeing multiple examples of broken games with only that much of vRAM, what’ will that mean in 2 or 3 years? :grimacing:

@JushJosh, well what about this, what is the best performing 5070ti laptop. There are so many reviews out there that it makes it basically impossible to find the all for each one. I bought the acer helios because of the price to performance but do you lose a lot of performance because of the underclocked 5070ti? I cant help but think that I should have shopped around more. The lenovo legion pro 7i was around the same price ($300 more) and it seems it out performs it. I don’t travel and always have it plugged in when playing. So travel friendly is not really a consideration for me. One thing I will say is that these companies are doing great with their displays. So many are using oled now and it’s actually affordable.

I agree. Thats why I went with a 12gb vram laptop this time. Usually I get the 70 class card in laptops. This time I went 70 ti class.

Dwayne, that video was what caused me to question my buy and where you can really see how well the 5070ti scales.

In my experience, the best performing RTX 5070 laptops with an Intel or AMD HX CPU is probably one with a GPU wattage as close to the maximum TGP of 140 watts.

In my experience, that would be the liquid cooled XMG Neo 16 / Eluktronics Hydroc 16. However, this laptop hasn’t seemed to have been reviewed at all afaik, but I have the top specced model with an RTX 5090, and it is very powerful. Of course, not everybody has the liquid cooler or this laptop chassis that can accept it.

The TL;DR? The higher the GPU wattage, the better, as long as it and the CPU (preferably an HX CPU) can remain cooled properly.
