Should I get 5070 Zephyrus or 5070 ProArt?

This is a follow-up to my thread about the 2024 vs 2025 ProArt.

I waited to see if the 2025 ProArt P16 would go on sale for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, and it didn’t lol. But in the meantime, the Zephyrus G16 with a 5070ti did go on a big sale (it was $2179 vs the ProArt’s $2399)! I was considering getting that instead because it was cheaper for more power…but I waited too long and missed that sale :skull: . Also the cheaper ($1999) 2024 ProArt P16 went out of stock.

So now I’m considering the Zephyrus G16 with a 5070, which is still on sale for $1699, or my original plan of a ProArt P16 also with a 5070 at $2399 (will likely get an open box one for $1970).

The whole reason I was considering getting a Zephyrus instead was for the extra VRAM. Now that I’m choosing between two 5070 laptops, is one any better than the other? There’s a big price difference. Is it just a nicer screen and an extra terabyte of storage?

There’s always the secret third option of waiting to see if anything goes on sale (again) later in the month :eyes: been doing a lot of waiting and hedging. Maybe I keep on waiting until CES.

Neither are good options, you should wait for the sale on the Zephyrus g16 for Xmas I guarantee it will drop again in price, the RTX 5070TI config is the one you want.

I agree with this for two reasons.

First, the extra vRAM on the 5070 Ti will help the laptop last longer for gaming without having to upgrade the whole laptop sooner.

Second, afaik, the 5070 and below models only have 16 GB of soldered RAM. That really isn’t enough for such a powerful laptop, and again, it will limit the performance of the laptop.

You guarantee it will drop again in price? I’ll hold you to that :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thank you for this reminder about the 16 GB of soldered RAM. That rules out the 5070 Zephyrus completely. The ProArt does have 32 GB of RAM.

I’ll take both your advice and keep waiting. Luckily, my current laptop is still working mostly fine (will be 5 in June), so I can afford to wait for a better deal.
