Retiree needs new laptop for streaming and watching movies

I need a new laptop for watching movies and television. I need a display screen that will not be highly reflective since I use the laptop in my living room with lots of windows and lamps. I will also use the laptop for online shopping, email. and social media, as well as general internet browsing. I typically have many browser tabs open so the laptop needs to accommodate that. The case and hinges need to be durable and sturdy since I pick up the laptop and put it down frequently. I would like the new laptop to have a 14” to 16” screen. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 (7430) with a 13th gen Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD that I bought in 2023. It’s great except for the reflection in the display. I would keep it except my husband needs a laptop since his is old and he wants me to get the new one. I have had Macs in the past, but would prefer a Windows machine if I can get a good one with a great display. My budget is around $2000. Any advice to help me narrow down the many options would be helpful. Thank you.

Most OLED screens that are widely used in laptops are super glossy. The only laptop with anti reflective screens that I can recall are the M4 macbook pro with the nano texure display and the Samsung galaxy book 5 pro. A simple hack can be buying any laptop and manually put a anti reflective screen protector ontop the display.

If you like 2-in-1’s you might enjoy the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 aura edition. I gave it as a gift this year for a similar use case to yours and it was well received! Though, I can’t really speak to the glare, sorry. It’s a really pretty laptop, lightweight, easy to use, vibrant screen, and well within your budget!

While I haven’t looked thoroughly, you could check the Acer Swift Edge 14 AI (horrendous name, I know) if you only care about having a color-accurate, high resolution, and matte OLED display. I think they have some models around $1,400. Just be warned that I don’t think the Swift Edge 14 is a good laptop (I’m not particularly sure on that), and I’ve only seen reviews on it. Otherwise, there aren’t many matte OLED laptops that I know of that are under or around $2,000. A stretch would be one of the ThinkPads; for example, if you take the Thinkpad P1 Gen 8 and only upgrade the display panel to the best one (tandem-OLED matte display), you would get a laptop for ~$2,200. However, this is a bit out of price range.

I recommend you this one, since it has the anti-reflective screen coating and its display size is decent enough for movies and other tasks while still being portable, this is a great laptop as it comes under 2k USD.

Thank you for your advice. I am impressed with what I am reading about Lenovos.
