I’m looking to buy a gaming + programing + data science laptop. I will mostly use it on a desk, with occasional travel. Currently I’m looking at 275hx + 5070 ti (or 5080 if there is a killer deal), 32gb or more RAM, and good durability (plan to use it for many years).
The most obvious choice would be Legion Pro 7i given its long time reputation on built quality, thermal and performance. However, the 2025 models come exclusively with a OLED screen that’s very glossy. I personally hate to look at a “mirror” when I’m coding or reading documents.
As a result, I’m thinking about the following choices:
-
Get a Legion Pro 7i and hope I get used to the screen reflection soon.
-
Get a Legion Pro 7i and an after-market anti-glare screen protector. I don’t know any good one (with good and reliable online reviews), though.
-
Get a Asus Strix G16 with 5070 ti (or Scar 16 for 5080), which comes with a matte IPS screen.
-
Something else.
Any suggestion? Thanks!
