The Zenbook S14 is probably not what you want given it has only 16 GB of soldered RAM and no dGPU. Same for Intel Lunar Lake laptops. The Asus TUF Gaming A14 also is very expensive to get 32 GB of RAM, which is also soldered, so that’s probably out.
The Legion 5 has an older AMD CPU so I’d only recommend it on a very good sale around the $1000 USD mark, because of the Gigabyte Aero X16.
I’d probably lean towards the Gigabyte Aero X16 if you are gaming or video editing a lot, as the dGPU is going to be important for those tasks. It also has upgradable RAM and is often on sale for a good price in the US (sorry, I don’t know about Canada).
Thank you! I appreciate it!
From your list I would suggest,
- Zenbook S16 oled:- the cpu is great, the igpu is also very capable. It can run games like CSGO, valorant in high settings and achieve 100+ fps. 40+ fps in other games like forza, cyberpunk, and gta 5. This could be your number 1 choice if you are not a hardcore gamer and you do not expect your laptop to run gta 6 when it comes out.
- If you can streach your budget, you can get the new Lenovo legion 5i. This can run GTA 6!!
you can also go for the ASUS TUF F14. if budget allows and you are okay with a gamer asthetic in your everyday laptop.
I’d get the IdeaPad Pro 5i or the Aero X16. Slightly lean for the IdeaPad Pro 5i. Lenovos tend to be very reliable.
Both these use the latest CPU’s which are more efficient than older generations. More battery life, less heat and fan noise. - btw none of these are Macbook battery levels. Also those 2 both have dedicated GPUs which as Cameron mentioned is likely important for your use case
I see! Thank you very much!!!
Glad to see that we could help! ![]()
