I’ve been trying to grab a good deal on a Lenovo laptop, mainly for daily tasks, spreadsheet work, python programming, sometimes I need to create some VM to run some instances but they aren’t heavy or run for long time and some light gaming such as WoW, Helldivers 2 etc.
I’ve bought a 32GB 5600MHz DDR5 kit (16x2) a few months ago before the RAM price went nuts, so if it comes with 16GB RAM idc.
I think that the laptop that could suit my needs is this since it has a nice CPU, a good GPU and the price it’s at a sweetspot (I believe):
But, also, I’ve been sniping this Lenovo Legion 5 gen 10 R7 260 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / RTX5060 + OLED screen which is actually grabbing my attention for the OLED screen, but the CPU is what worries me since I’ve read it performance it’s pretty mediocre, also I never had an AMD CPU before and I’m more of a Intel/nVidia fanboy which also sums up to the doubts.
I’m don’t want to spend more than a $1000 on a laptop. Any other suggestions are welcome
Also, the Legion’s 16:10 OLED screen is a lot better than the LOQ’s 16:9 screen; the latter probably also has less color gamut coverage and a slower screen grey to grey response time than even higher tier IPS screens (and much worse than the OLED gaming laptop screens as in the Legions).
You play WoW? asmongold subscriber spotted. I used to play a lot, but i stopped after the update.
Anyways, I highly recommend to not pick the Lenovo LOQ, the previous models had a lot of motherboard problems. The legion on the other hand has a better CPU than the LOQ you mentioned, and a better screen. So I say go with the legion.
Yeah! Pretty casual now, this expansion really sucked a lot and I was playing SOD but since it’s over now, I’m on a break and waiting for any new classic release lol. Retail isn’t fun anymore.
I’ve read that the mobo issues has to do with the region and most of the issues were on India.
I’m not sure if the R7 260 it’s better than the i7 13650HX? According to benchmarks it isn’t but seems like that R7 doesn’t have a lot of reviews so it’s kinda of hard to find.
I’m leaning to the Legion because for extra $100 I’m getting a bunch of stuff such as OLED, thinner and lighter and better quality product, but the CPU it’s what’s stopping me.
The i7 is an older CPU compared to the R7 260. THE RYZEN was released on January 2025, whereas the i7 is almost 4 years old- this means that the the i7 would run hotter and demand more wattage compared to the R7 260. Even if the i7 had a computation edge compared to the R7 260. I would still choose the R7 because it would be more efficient than the i7 hence giving out some decent battery life out of the laptop.
Definitely go for the legion dw about the CPU it’s enough for your use.
