Hii, I will be majoring in accounting in around a year and I would like to get a new laptop. My budget can stretch to up to 1600 dollars but i’d love to buy something under 1500 dollars. I want something compact with a sharp screen to look at spreadsheets and long battery life. I’d prefer something with less fan noise and heat aswell. As for performance I think most of my use cases will be web browsing and office tasks and I don’t play heavy games. I was considering a macbook air 15 but people said that mac os isn’t great for accounting. Im considering a thinkpad but the prices are outrageous and the screen resolutions aren’t as sharp.
I think these options are good for your use case and desires.
- Lenovo yoga pro 7 aura edition - core ultra 7/9 arrow lake, 32 GB ram, it has a 3k display (3000 x 1800) things will look sharp, it has the best keyboard in the laptop market ( i personally am a fan), battery life is decent ( 7+ in normal office use).
- Asus zenbook S14 - same specs as the yoga 7 , i personally like the build (it feels premium- display is a 2.5k/2.8k display not that good as the one in the yoga but pretty sharp nevertheless.
Avoid snapdragon processors, most softwares don’t support ARM64.
Also I had heard about some problems with ASUS thin and light laptops- so have a look on reddit or some other site for clarification on the zenbook S14, does it have some widespread problem of not. Lenovos tend to be reliable that’s why I would be a bit biased towards the yoga pro 7
How about the build quality? I’ve never checked a yoga before so Im not sure yet. Im not interested in snapdragon processors dont worry. As for my own experience I’ve had better experience with lenovo laptops than asus. Also how about the amd version? Josh has a review on it
Yoga has a decent build quality. The chasis is metal not plastic and everything else is great in the laptop. The only thing I find negetive is the trackpad- it’s a mechanical one and when you press it, it sounds loud. Josh has areview on the yoga pro 7 but it is an AMD version laptop And it’s older. The newer model has a better screen and a better chip with bigger battery.
Sounds like a very solid pick for me but im not rushing since Im majoring in a year. Should I wait for new models? Im also interested in the thinkpad x9 15 since it has a bigger screen.
X9 is a beauty, now that you mention it- the X9 has a model with a haptic trackpad. This can also be a solid pick for you. I saw the black friday sale on the X9, it’s around 1000$ now feels like a good pick.
Customize Your Lenovo Device | Lenovo US You can spec this one and it will be right at the $1500 range which fits within your budget
the 32/1024 one with core ultra 7 258v for 1500 sounds perfect currently.
