I will be attending college in the fall as an Accounting & Finance double major (may switch to Accounting & MIS). I know little to nothing about tech, specs, etc. so any input is greatly appreciated! I have been looking into a few laptops such as Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, Lenovo Legion 5i & 7i, etc… (although I think a gaming laptop might be overkill for me)
Laptop will mostly be used for college. If I have free time (likely rare), I want to play games and VC with friends.
I do have a few things that I want on my laptop:
- Good or exceptional battery life (8-10+ hours of schoolwork?)
- 10-digit number pad
- Can run accounting and Finance/MIS (still deciding) software
- Portable? I will be commuting in college, a simple 15 minute drive
- Between 16 GB of RAM and 32 GB of RAM (preferably 32?)
- 512 GB SSD or 1 TB SSD
- Can run Roblox (most important lol). I also want to try Valorant for the first time, but it’s definitely NOT a priority. I just care about Roblox, if I have to play it on low graphics, that’s fine too
- Doesn’t heat up signficantly
- Good cooling systems
- Fans aren’t TOO loud
- Smooth performance and gameplay
- 15" - 16" laptop
- Weighs less than 5 lbs
- Can multitask on it
- Can handle LOTS of tabs…
- BUDGET MAX: $1,600 - 1,800 is as far as I want to go. If it’s under $1,500, that’s perfect because I have a student discount
