I am a student looking for a laptop to buy

I am looking to buy a laptop but there are just too many options to pick from. I am a student and play only a few games. I am a business major.

My budget is around $1,500, and the spec requirements are 1 TB storage, good battery life, and it should have dedicated graphics so I can play Football Manager.

I am thinking about waiting, but my current laptop has 8 GB RAM, which is not ideal for me to do much on it. I was looking at the Asus G14 and 16, but I am not sure yet.

Any suggestions would be helpful

For that budget and that use case I would recommend to you the ASUS tuf A14, decent gaming performance and portability at this price point and has a dedicated GPU

or this HP Omen as an alternative

While it loses out on portability, a 16-inch laptop can be helpful for business tasks. My nephew is studying accounting, and he appreciates his LG Gram 16’s screen for all-day number crunching sessions. As such, I’d go with the Gigabyte Aero X16 especially since it meets all your other criteria while being on sale right now for $1200.

Hi,

For a buisness major student, you need to prioritise battery life over everything for academics. But, you are a casual- moderate gamer so you require a dgpu. Since you are not that into games I wouldn’t suggest you to get a laptop with 5070 Ti or 5080 that has vram more than 8 GB. Any 50 series card ( even the 5060) can suffice for your needs.

I suggest you can go for Lenovo IdeaPad pro 5i. It has a 5050, and it doesn’t have too many RGB lights so you will look professional with this next to you. Moreover according to Josh you can expect 8 hours battery life on normal use. Cierra would go for this if it were her money.

Well, if you’re talking about the new football manager 2026 then you are in luck! It supports windows and macos. So if you buy a macbook pro M4 then you can have the best battery life (15+ hours), you can run this on high settings without a sweat, plus macbooks are buisness laptops. The 1 TB varient is around 1600$ just above your budget. If you do not mind macos and you prefer battery life then go for this.

I am looking at the Legion Pro 5 gen 10 16-inch if that’s any different from the one you suggested.

Legion is a gaming laptop that comes with a powerful rtx gpu and a powerful cpu. But it’s heavy (around 2.3 kg) and you will find it hard to carry around in campus.

If you don’t mind about the weight and if 4 hours of battery life is enough for you then the legion is a very good choice.

As nerd said it is heavy so you may want to consider the options we have previously recommended

I have a Legion. Its heavy. You may get used to it but may lead to back pain. Consider smthng else.
