There are some deals on the HP Omen Slim 16 at Micro Center right now.

Josh’s review of this laptop.

One of them has 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB SSD, an Intel Core Ultra 5 225H CPU, and an RTX 5050 for $999. That’s a decent deal, but not a “great deal”.

However, for just $200 more, you can get a config with 32 GB of RAM, the same 1 TB SSD, an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H CPU, and an RTX 5070. That deal is honestly one of the best deals I’ve seen in a long time, especially given the Legion 5 with similar CPU & GPU specs but an older Intel 14th gen CPU also at Micro Center is $300 more.

Also, both of these configs have the middle tier display, which is much better than the lower quality 144 hz display at the even lower end.

There is, however, one big catch for these two deals. They are solely available at Micro Center, and only for either in-store pick-up or in-store purchase; you cannot get it shipped to you. This means you must be able to drive to a Micro Center or be able to have somebody pick it up for you. If you live near one or are planning to take a trip to one, then I would strongly look at the RTX 5070 config because it is that good.

Here in AZ it’s actually much cheaper, only $959 for the 5070 config.

Correct, and that would make it go from an insane deal to one of the best deals I’ve ever seen period.

These prices I mentioned were for the New York locations, specifically, the one near the Bronx (technically in Yonkers, but it’s literally less than 5 minutes to get to the Bronx from the Micro Center there), but of course, if you live near a Micro Center, it always pays to go inside if you need a laptop.

We’re spoiled for Micro Centers around here. I live in central NJ and within 50 miles we got KoP, North Jersey, Yonkers, Brooklyn, Queens, LI…its crazy.

Heh, same area as me! Micro Center is the last chain standing for electronics! (Best Buy is more of an appliance company that happens to sell laptops imo.)
