Turkiye is a beautiful place. Been to trabzon for a match it was great. Where are you from in turkiye?
Well for 1.5k USD laptop I would suggest you to get this configuration:-
CPU- core ultra 7 255H or core ultra 9 285H
GPU - intel igpu is powerful enough for basic taks and moderate gaming.
Ram- 32 GB
SSD - 1 TB
For laptop options, I would suggest
Zenbook 14/ S14 OLED 14’ inch.
Lenovo yoga pro 7i
IdeaPad pro 5i
Macbook M4 air/ pro (if you do not care what OS you will use)
I took a glace at your turkish website, the prices sure are weird. The filter category was very detailed, it even asked for core numbers, and click speeds!! Long story short, consider any laptop that has the recommended specs and look in josh’s review for that laptop if available.
Hello Nerd, thanks for ur info. I am from Central Anatolia. I am kinda concerned about Zenbook. It’s the best price/performance device here in Turkey pricewise. But idk about build quality. Yogas are so expensive. MAC idk.
Zenbook’s are good build wise, the only bad thing about the zenbook’s are that it doesn’t have the best cooling solution, hence it gets quite warm to touch after a long session. Secondly, near my house ASUS customer service is not so great that’s why I avoid buying Asus, except this issue, Asus zenbook is a solid choice.
Lenovo yoga sure is expensive, try looking for the IdeaPad pro, ThinkPad. Lenovo laptops have 3 year warranty if bought from their official website (idk about other websites in turkiye). Lenovo are tend to be reliable specially the ThinkPad series. So if you could find a ThinkPad or a yoga or an IdeaPad in your budget with the specs i mentioned above, then I guess it would be fine for you.
Although if Asus customer service is good in your location then it’s a great choice.
Hmm, thanks for the info. I mean they might be ok but it seemed kinda mid when i saw it physically. Anyways this is the ideapad pro i found Ideapad Pro 5
Also idk if should wait. I still have like 3 months-4months before i start the faculty. I have a Legion 5i which i bought in 2023 its great but literally no battery life and its like 2.5 kgs + 0.9 kg so i want a lighter laptop with decent (not interested in video editing just school work + visual studio code) laptop which can go for 3-4 years (at least 2-3 ). If i was in US I may get the Yoga Aura or Omnibook. They are exp/not available here. I saw a Hp Spectre and loved the design and the look but it has the 155h and its now a bit outdated and i dont wanna make my mom spend another thousand on pcs. I may wait if there was news about new hp spectres but turns out to be no news.
Bruh…. Why didn’t you mention before that you have another laptop?
You have a Lenovo legion 5i? What are the specs? Is it in good condition?
Look, if the legion is powerful enough then use the legion in your dorm room for heavy work, you can buy a lunar lake CPU ( which prioritises battery over performance) which will give you decent battery life ( 8+ hours) for everyday use in university campus.
So yeah sry for that. It has 13700hx with 4060. Its decent but hard to carry. So I wont have classes requiring enormous performance till 2027-2028 (i hope) max ill do is Python (maybe c++) and some other coding things which can be done on 10 yo laptop. But I am concerned about it being super weak and just being able to run google and lagging while using it. We also have a lot of charger points like this.
Ik a bit or two about CS course. That legion can do anything course related for the entirety of the course.
If you want a new laptop for Portability, i suggest you to buy a macbook air. You will have a windows machine and a macos machine, you can learn CS on both kind of OS. Moreover, macbooks are very efficient and battery life is great 15+ hours easily.
If you do not want macbook then I say to change CPU Recommendation:-
CPU - core ultra 9 286v.
This is a lunar lake CPU which gives performance comparible to the M3 chip, and the core ultra 9 185H. Performance is not great if we compare to the newer core ultra 9 285H ( the 285H is 20-30% better in performance than the 286v. Basically, not great performance but powerful enough to code, coursework, and better battery life than the 285H.
Uhm i checked a bit and turns out that there is nothing with 288v or like 2.5k usd. I found an Omnibook X Flip with 256v and a Yoga 7 Slim Aura with it. Aura is like 1.5k Omni is like 1.35k
Lunar lake laptops are usually cheap. But in turkiye for some reason it’s expensive.
Well I would say, get the IdeaPad pro 5. If you want to know how it feels or looks or what are the bad things about the IdeaPad pro then check out josh’s review on the IdeaPad pro 5i.
Is this website reputable??? I just found a iphone 13 which is equally priced to the iphone 17!!
If you couldn’t find a lunar lake laptop then I say buy the IdeaPad pro 5 you just showed above. It’s good enough it can do everything demanding, even gaming (moderate).
I have Hp Spectre X360 on my mind. It has a old processor as 155h but ive seen a lot of good reviews including joshs. Ive seen it for like 50k on a store. I liked the design as well. Another one in my mind is Omnibook with 256V for 55k but my concern is if it will fullfil my class requirements. I do not wanna carry my Legion every day after some time. Would you say it will fullfil the reqs like C++ etc.
The HP spectre is a good laptop, but the specs are old and in 2025 I do not think it’s a good choice to buy it. Panther lake cpus will also release by Feb of next year. If you are spending so much money on a laptop, you need to buy 2025 models. Old models are simply not an option. Nobody spends so much money on old tech.
The core ultra 7 256v is not great performance wise, I say search for core ultra 9 products. Search for core ultra 9 288v or get the core ultra 9 285H it’s great for performance and battery life is decent (8 hrs usually in laptops with this chip).
Look, C++, python, C, all of these coding tasks can be done easily without issues. VScode i think probably the lunar lake models will be sufficient for small- medium codes. For bigger real life codes implementation your legion will work just fine (or the ultra 9 285H).
Im kinda on same page as him, I will probably go for webdev/devops or cybersec whaterever i will like more. I will probably go for mbp but its kinda expensive and i think s14 would do everything same
