1.5k USD Computer Science Laptop ADVICE

I would go for the Zenbook 14 with ultra9 285h that is a really nice CPU for your use case

I can get them both for the same price which would be better?

Which is the other one you are considering?

M4 MBP, I think you can say simmilar performance for all the aspects (battery, cpu, build quality)

MBP is the superior choice if you are willing to get used to MacOs

The only bad thing about a MBP is that it runs on macos and limited game support. Except this the macbook pro just destroys windows competition.

I want Software Development but also may get data science classes at the same time.

-update: I was blocked bcuz of being a new user. Anyway, I asked someone in my school using Mac for CS and he said there shouldnt be a problem with cuz he said they use a complier (online i believe). Ill ask someone else too if he says the same thing ill reconsider mbp. Since I also have a Windows laptop, i may use if any problem occurs.

Get used one ship to USA with parcel and then ship for like 90eur, you can get one for 1100EUR. Going to do the same

My mom said get a new one xd. We have a lot of options on 2nd hand market for like 1200€. I will think tho.

Software development can be done on any laptop ( even on low spec ones). Data science on the other hand requires a laptop with a lot of RAM. I’m learning in the field of AI, so I know a bit about Data science. Ram is like the primary focus for data analytics and data science in common.

A budget friendly option would be a macbook Air. You can max the ram to 32GB but still cost the same as a macbook pro base varient. Macbook air is not a low powered computer. M4 chip runs software development tasks better than any intel or AMD varient (for laptops) chip in the market. You already have a legion for gaming, macbook air is great for programming and gives great battery life. Also it’s so thin and light that roaming around in campus with it would be easy.

Macbooks is fine for programming, my friend uses it and has no issues. If you have time then look into this youtube channel named- Alex Ziskind. He is a developer who makes videos on different tech for developing and AI tasks. Totally recommended for CS students.

Uhm news. I may shift to Cyber Security so i need a windows laptop. 2 options:

Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5 : I9 Ultra 285h 32GB Ram

Zenbook 14: I9 Ultra 285h 32GB ram (5k turkish lira more 125~$)

Heard that zenbooks overheat but dont know if its true, both are a great option.

Look which company has better customer support in your area. Lenovo or ASUS.

I would prefer the IdeaPad pro since Lenovo tend to be reliable machines.
