Windows MacBook Pro?

Hi everyone,

Just found this channel and it’s fantastic. Thank you for all the testing, videos, and effort you put into it. I just liked and subscribed.

For years I have wanted a Windows laptop that feels like a MacBook Pro, meaning powerful with real battery life. I had a MacBook in college, then went from XPS 13s to fully loaded XPS 17 with 90 minutes of battery life and chargers that do not work on airplanes, to now an ASUS Zenbook S14 with Core Ultra 2, top US spec. I also built a gaming PC, which mostly runs Excel.

I do not care for the Apple operating system especially since excel is my main program. I was excited about Core Ultra and I really like the Zenbook, but I am still looking for more battery life and sustained performance. Recently I have been looking at the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra.

Is it fair to think Core Ultra 2 is Intel’s M1 style jump, or is that more like Core Ultra 3. Also, would moving from a Zenbook S14 with Ultra 2 to an ExpertBook Ultra be a noticeable upgrade for battery and performance, or mostly incremental. Cost is not the issue, I just want to avoid upgrading for marginal gains. If you have any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t think you necessarily need to upgrade if you have Lunar Lake already; the Zenbook S14 is a premium laptop already.

but yeah the big deal with Core Ultra 3 is that the X series (ie X7 and X9, like what the ExpertBook Ultra got) has a iGPU and CPU thats ~80% more powerful than what you got in your Lunar Lake Zenbook S14, while still using the same amount of power;

so if you dont need more iGPU or CPU performance, then your Zenbook S14 is already more than fine

The series 3 chip is a big upgrade. Specially for battery life and graphics. You could definitely get the expertbook.
