LENOVO YOGA 9i PRO AURA EDITION COMPETITORS

I just watched your superb review of this machine. It seems to meet all my needs and more however I have concerns and want to make sure I am not missing something.

What are the best competitors?

My requirements:

Bright screen - I’mGetting old and struggle to see hahaha

Normal to heavy business use with a bit of basic audio and video editing

Reasonably quiet (so not a noisy machine) as I podcast with it.

Numerical keypad

No gaming requirement

Very little mobile use

The massive size of the power brick is a minor concern - is there an alternative to power it using something stable and smaller when travelling?

Currently looking to upgrade from my VERY loved HP Spectre X360 from 2019. I love the build and style but its hard drive is too small and it’s getting slow to use multitasking.

With a budget of $2200 is this machine the best pound for pound replacement for me?

If you don’t need to use it on the go, the power brick shouldn’t be a huge concern.

However, if you are somebody who wants to use a smaller USB-C power brick, you should be able to at the cost of full performance or discharging while under heavy load.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition should be a great fit for you.

Thanks Cameron,

I really appreciate your reply. I adore my HP Spectre and it has served me so well. It is such a shape that they do not offer anything as cutting edge as the Yoga.

Anyway in answer to your comment, I will mainly be sitting in my home office, so it is only a minor concern. However, I do sometimes travel and take it overseas, and that is when I notice the power brick so much more. I think having a travel USB C style charger would be ideal for these times, but I was slightly worried about the fact it seems to drain even when charging. I assume it would need to be really worked hard for this to be an issue.

Is there a USB C Charger you could recommend for this laptop?

One thing to note, I will be buying it in the US (as I prefer US keyboard layouts), but I live in Spain. I cannot imagine this would be an issue.

Last question, I see that the 2026 Yoga 9i Pro Aura Edition is getting some fun upgrades. Now I am worrying if I should wait and get the 2026 model or push on and get the 2025 which seems on paper to meet all my needs.

My gaming laptop in particular needs a special 20 volt USB-C charger to use USB-C, and obviously it won’t run at full performance under USB-C (it has a 400 watt power brick for the main AC adapter and charging port), but unfortunately, my laptop won’t charge with anything supplying less than 20 volts.

That’s why I personally use this Anker charger for my gaming laptop that supports up to 100 watts USB-C, and I have experience with it.[1]

I don’t think it will be a problem, but make sure before you buy. (That keyboard issue is why I can’t buy UK or EU laptops because I hate ISO keyboards with a passion, because they all use ISO with the exception of the Netherlands, which uses ANSI for some reason.)

As for the question of “should you wait for the 2026 model or buy the 2025 model now” it depends on your budget and if you can wait for the second half of the year.
