Looking to get something for my Masters in Comp Sci. Debating if an M5 Air with 24GB would be better than an M5 Pro with only 16GB. Or maybe an M3 or M4 Pro with 24GB would be better? I’m open to Windows laptops if they have the battery life to get me through the day. Also like to do video editing and 3d modeling on the side but very much a hobbyist level. Thank you! Budget is ~$1500 USD with some flexibility.

I’ll get an M5 MacBook Pro 14 if you can find the M4 Pro with 24 GB. You can go for it if you find it second-hand or refurbished, but if you want a really premium laptop, go with the M5 MacBook Pro 14.
