I have been discussing about laptops with my parents recently and they have constantly brought up about laptops lasting long enough. They were very much against the idea of buying Acer laptops and my mom especially denies buying Dell laptops because her Latitude’s laggy software has been causing her problems in her job. When I suggested Lenovo laptops, they said that Lenovo laptops are overpriced and too expensive even though I showed them models like the IdeaPad Pro 5i and Legion 5i. I have been worried about HP laptops since repair shop channels like SalemTechSperts have fixed many of them in their videos. I’m not confident with Asus laptops as well since I’ve read many Reddit users having issues with their Asus laptops after 1 year of use and even my 2021 Vivobook couldn’t run on battery anymore after updating to Windows 11. The one thing that we agreed on is not buying Macbooks and Snapdragon laptops because of app compatibility issues. What are your thoughts about this?
In my opinion, reliability also depends on the model, but from my experience, Lenovo Thinkpads especialLy the T P X lines, are pretty decent, but they may cost more than their counterparts from other brands, if you want a really long-lasting laptop that you can upgrade I suggest Framework but is the same issue reliable and repairable but comes with a price, I’ll suggest and older thinkpad model or refurb.
I’ve checked that Framework doesn’t ship to Malaysia, so even tho it is my ideal laptop, I can’t get it either way, ThinkPads are way out of my budget as well
