Discussing Asus - Issues, bad QC, ROG, etc

I’ve seen a lot of horror stories online discussing the various issues in Asus laptops. Asus recently admitted that ROG laptops sold since 2021 have had large, unfixed issues. The ASUS reddit is covered in stories (across many laptops) of bad quality control, power randomly turning off, massive issues arising about a year after purchase, etc. The suggestalaptop discord has discussed ASUS having severe issues for years now.

Asus ROG says it is 'actively investigating' gaming laptop stuttering issues after a user apparently identified a 'cascade of firmware design failures' | PC Gamer

How true are all these claims, and can they be verified by professional sources? Can we get a video discussing this more in detail, and whether ASUS laptops are still recommended? What do others think?

  1. Asus is working on a fix for the issue you mentioned: https://x.com/ASUS_ROGNA/status/1971664805795877099?t=3CLsLaE3gKpWUhFjoBuchg&s=19
  2. We have tested many Asus laptops, they are some of the least issue prone we’ve had in. I’d say A tier. S tier being Apple.

But its not just whether they have issues, its also how is their support? Dell and Lenovo both offer enhanced support with onsite-next business day repairs. You have to pay for this, but that means you are out of a laptop for less with them.

That’s good to know.
What about long-term tests though, do you ever do those? Issues discussed typically appear about a year in.

I agree, support is important. I’m just not sure whether Asus is consistently selling a product that lasts.

Of course, Apple being S tier only applies to Apple Silicon models. The Intel models were D tier at best.

Unfortunately, there is no perfect brand. You are always going to have lemons.
