Best laptop in China for coding/productivity (¥15k–¥20k ≈ $2,100–$2,800)?

Hi everyone, I’m currently in China and planning to buy a high-quality laptop for long-term coding and productivity use. My budget is roughly ¥15,000–¥20,000 RMB (about $2,100–$2,800 USD). I already own an ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 (2023 with RTX 3060), so I’m not looking for another gaming machine or high-end GPU.

Here’s what I’m aiming for:

  • Non-Mac laptop (Windows preferred; Linux friendliness is a plus)

  • Strong CPU performance for development workflows (IDEs, multitasking, terminal work, remote access, Docker/WSL)

  • Excellent display: 3K/4K resolution (or very high quality 16:10/3:2 panel), good brightness/color accuracy

  • Battery life: good enough for all-day use (doesn’t have to be best-in-class)

  • 1TB storage is fine — I work mostly with remote servers

  • Build quality and longevity matter more than brand name

Thanks in advance!

the Zenbook Duo’s launching tommorow in China, if that thing’s under 20k Yuan then that will be the ultimate coding laptop (because two screens!)

As long as you are okay with having a bit wonky Linux support (because of the dual screens), at least until April 2026, the Zenbook Duo with Intel’s Panther Lake should be the best option for you. Just make sure to get the model with the Core Ultra X7 or X9 APUs, because the non X models are much weaker.

Ah here we go, on Asus’s official Chinese store, the Zenbook Duo’s going on pre-order for 15k yuan (32GB/1TB) (delivery starts on 3 March 2026)

And if you live in Shanghai, the Chinese government will even give you a 1500 yuan discount off of the Zenbook Duo

well that settles that then
