Advice on lenovo/asus choices

Hi

I am comparing Lenovo/Asus, I would prefer upgradeable models for RAM and SSD, also is 5080 going to give much greater performance than 5070ti? Not a major gamer, will be doing some video editing + usual software and running investment software.

Will mainly be a at home/desk based laptop often connected to external monitor, and looking to future proof for a good few years. I have got to the following, but happy to consider other options:

I’d probably go with the Legion Pro 7i with the following cavaets:

  1. If you want ports on the back, this laptop is not for you.
  2. If you want a cleaner design, this laptop is not for you.
  3. If you want biometrics, this laptop is not for you unless you get an external fingerprint reader or external IR camera (which every other competitor at this price has).
  4. Be aware of PWM on the OLED screens. I’m not sensitive to PWM, but I know some people might be. Also, the glossy OLED screen can sometimes have a effect that looks like a screen door effect. It may be panel lottery, but IDK.
  5. How much RAM do you need? The G16 doesn’t have upgradable RAM but the other two options do.

I’d probably go for the Legion. unless you have an issue with any of the above or need good battery life. That being said, where you based out of? The UK?

Thanks. Re point 4 If on external monitor does this matter? Re RAM was looking for 64gb but happy to buy at 32gb and upgrade alter depending on observations. I know I pasted links to 5080 but to keep costs down is 5070ti decent also for video editing and some light gaming etc? Yes from the UK, prices still reasonably high on last years Lenovo models hence the reviews..

Are Lenovo extended warranties and customer support generally better than Asus?
