Thinkpad x1 2in1 vs ASUS Rog Flow Z13

Hey guys. I am coming up on 2 years of ownership of HP Pavillion 14” with 7840U cpu and OLED 3k screen. I love the laptop but running in to productivity issues as 16GB ram is too low when working with Autocad, Bluebeam PDF builder and most Microsoft software sweet. Applications crash when memory fills up.

I would like to stay with 14* laptop but 32GB is a must with a bright screen for outdoor use. 2 in 1 touchscreen is preferable to quickly review documents on the move.

Would love to try a MacBook PRO but it has too many compromises for my use.

There are only a few options for 2 in 1 laptops, 32gb ram and with a good display.

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and Lenovo Thinkpad X1 2 in 1 are good options from what I can see.

Any advice or alternatives? I travel 75% of the time.

There aren’t many options of a 2 in 1 laptop. Two names come up my mind- the omnibook ultra and the Lenovo X1.

LENOVO X1 is a bit expensive but if money isn’t a problem then I would buy the X1.

These are cheaper options I can recommend to you, if you have the budget for the thinkpad x1 or the rog flow go for it but between the two I would personally choose the Flow Z13

Thanks for the suggestion. I planned on buying a MacBook PRO and expected to spend some cash but I connect to older generation systems every so often with serial cable or USB printer cable. The unique and proprietary software could cause me some grief running in emulation mode. I would rather not carry two laptops just in case mac wont establish connection.

But looking around, I completely forgot about Asus dual screen laptop. Lenovo is 16gb of ram but Asus is 32gb and now on sale for $1599. 2nd display is very useful but will not be as robust as Lenovo X1 2in1

I had a heavy 16” Dell precision workstation laptop with dedicated graphics back in a day and now I am scarred for life. Now I try to stick with light 14” laptops.

ASUS - Zenbook Duo Dual 14" 3K OLED Touch Laptop - Evo Intel Core Ultra 7 255H with 32GB RAM

I like Lenovo laptops and availability of spare parts is a huge plus.

X1 2in1 with ultra 7 gen 2, 32gb ram and 2.8k OLED screen is on sale for "$1709 from Lenovo direct. That is hard to beat for a quality product.

The Flow Z13 gets a lot of hype because it is a convertible. IMO, the X1 is the obvious choice, especially for office use. If I could buy any laptop on earth, it would be an X1 2-in-1 G10 but they are insanely expensive. Personally, if you just want 32G of RAM in a 2-in-1, there are plenty of great options which are affordable. I have an Omnibook Ultra Flip 14 with 32GB of RAM and 2TB SSD and as long as what you do isn’t graphics intensive, it’ll do great. Like the Lenovo, it is haptic. If you don’t care about haptic, then other Lenovo and HP options are great too.
