Laptop for 3D modeling/rendering, AutoCAD and light photoshop use

Doing interior design work with lots of Revit use, AutoCAD and some photoshop besides otherwise basic computer use. I had taken a long break and now am getting back into it; my last computer I bought in 2014 was a Dell Precision M3800 BTX Base with upgrades, it had 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 memory / Nvidia® Quadro® K1100M, w/ 2GB GDDR5 graphics / 256GB Solid State Drive Full Mini Card with an additional 2.5 inch 500GB Solid State Hybrid Drive storage / 6-cell, 61Whr battery / Intel® Core™ i7-4712HQ Processor (Quad Core 2.30GHz, 3.3GHz Turbo, 6MB 37W, w/HD Graphics 4600 processor and 15.6" UltraSharp™ IGZO QHD+ Touch(3200x1800) Wide View LED-backlit display. It used to get a bit warm when I pushed it to the max but not terrible but after not that long into using it in design school, it became so maxed out on I think it was memory and storage I couldn’t do anything with it and it became basically useless and had to stop using it. Now getting back into everything again and know it will be tasked with doing just as much as in the past or even more.

Not considering cost, but looking to get the lightest laptop possible (within reason, I know these sorts of laptops are all heavier), very good 16” screen with color accuracy with at least some battery life for when using it for simple things like web/word/excel… I was looking at two laptops I can’t find much review info about: the Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 8 or the Dell Pro Max 16 Premium. I know I need 64GB Ram or upgradable/ dedicated graphics card / Intel Core Ultra 7 or 9 processor / 2 TB or more for storage or ability to upgrade. Does anyone have any experience with these laptops or think a different one is better?

What’s your max budget?

I’m not exactly setting a budget, but probably no more than $5,000 if it will work well. The last one, though that was years ago was around $3,400 but corporate discounted to $2,400, so with inflation and everything I’d hope I could do $5,000 or less, as long as it will last like 5ish years I could live with that

Also saw one review on Reddit with a picture for the Dell Pro Max 16 Premium that said the tandem OLED screen when at less than 70% brightness had issues with grey and dark images that appeared grainy and it was worse in a dark room….. is that a common issue with Tandem OLED screens? It almost looked like OLED burnout to me?

When I put some customizations on the Dell laptop it was coming in closer to $6,000…

Maybe it’s better to do 1 TB storage and then mostly save any large projects on an external SSD to save some $$

Same question! Piggybacking here, except I like big fat beefy laptops and my budget is closer to $2000.

Having a tough time figuring out what laptops are going to give high vram.
