Suggestion for a mid range series of Gaming and Video Editing Laptops

Hi JustJosh Tech Team,

First off, thank you. Because of your website and videos, I was finally able to pick out the laptop I wanted (The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 5070 Ti) during the Black Friday deals.

I just wanted to suggest an idea for a future series focused on mid-range laptops for editing and or gaming.

I recently watched the newest video, Best Video Editing Laptops of 2025.

Great video, great picks—no complaints there.

But majority of the laptops featured were $3,000–$4,000 on sale and full price which is a huge jump from the $1,500–$2,000 range I think a lot of people are actually shopping in.

For example Most of the high end laptops mentioned:

ProArt P16 5090: $3,999

Legion 9i: $3,299 on sale / $4,059 full price

Alienware 18 Area 51: $3,699 / $4,399 full price

Strix Scar 18: around $3,200–$3,400

Blade 16: $2,799 +

They’re amazing machines, but at that price point I feel like it becomes more cost-effective to buy something like the ASUS ROG AMD G16 5070 Ti for around $1,599 and then spend the rest on a really solid desktop PC.

For someone like me who just wants to edit and game—and doesn’t need top-tier workstation specs. A good laptop under $2k plus a PC seems like a better overall setup than spending $3k–$4k on a single laptop.

This isn’t criticism at all. I just a different perspective and a suggestion for a series that I think a lot of people would find helpful.

Thanks again for all the great content.

Looking forward to the next video.

I think you should reword that the price point that you’re looking at is very high generally speaking from what I see from experience at school and stuff generally the 1000 to 1,500 range is what is considered usually the mid-to high-end-range.

On my side it’s probably a bit aggressive but I do think that would be fair to define that price point as high end/premium high end
