Hi everyone,

I’m looking for laptop recommendations suitable for running physics simulations (mostly on-device, with some jobs on the cluster) while still being portable. Ideal specs:

- **Weight:** ≤ 4.4 lb (2.0 kg)

- **Thickness:** ≤ 0.79 in (2 cm)

- **Display:** 16-inch

- **Battery life:** ≥ 8 hours

- **CPU:** Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX or comparable

- **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (or similar)

- **Memory:** ≥ 32 GB RAM

- **Storage:** ≥ 1 TB SSD

- **SO:** GNU/Linux

- **Price:** ≤ USD $2,000

If you’ve had good experiences with a specific model or configuration, I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks!
Emmanuel

Asus zephyrus G16, Lenovo legion.

I have a 3 year old MSI Katana. Terrible device do not consider any MSI laptops. I lean more towards the zephyrus than the legion because the zephyrus doesn’t look like a gaming laptop and it has good battery life when you use it unplugged.

> The 2025 version of the G16 is much improved. It is around 15% faster in CPU and GPU performance and is quieter and a little cooler to the touch than the prior generation....

But you have to catch it on a good sale

I like @Nemusdark_HW suggestion.

If you can handle a bit more weight. I’d get the 5080 version of the Omen Max 16 for that money: [HP - OMEN MAX 16 - 2025 - Review, Deals, Sales, Price History and Coupons | Best Laptop Deals](https://www.bestlaptop.deals/products/HP-OMEN-MAX-16-Arrow-Lake)
