**Goal:** Engineering Student Laptop for CAD/Simulation **Budget:** $1000 - $2000 USD

### Performance Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

- **Primary Use:** Engineering coursework, including **CAD** (e.g., SolidWorks) and **Simulation** software.

- **RAM:** **32GB preferred** , or a minimum of **16GB that is user-upgradable** or **32GB**.

- **Graphics (dGPU):** **Dedicated GPU** required for intensive simulations and 3D rendering tasks.

- **Storage (SSD): 1T** preferred but 516GB is fine

### Design & Quality Preferences

- **Build Quality:** **Excellent and durable build quality**

- **Aesthetics:** Sleek, professional, and minimalist design, flashy color is fine. I appreciate the look of **Lenovo ThinkPads** and **Razer Blades**.

- **Portability:** **Not super bulky** ; reasonably thin and light for carrying around campus.

### Student-Life Features

- **Battery Life:** **Decent to good battery life** to last through classes without needing to be constantly plugged in.

- **Noise/Thermals:** **Quiet operation** under moderate load; **fans should not be excessively loud** during normal use (must avoid a “bacon cooking” noise level).

**Summary Keywords:** Engineering Student Laptop, SolidWorks, 32GB RAM, dGPU, ThinkPad/Blade style, Quiet Fans, $1000-$2000.
