Asus ProArt 16 5090 version or Macbook Pro M5 max

Hi everyone, I’m currently in the process of learning video editing and I’m looking for some honest, experience-based advice on choosing between two laptops: the ASUS ProArt P16 (RTX 5090 version) and the M5 Max MacBook Pro.
My main focus is video editing, so performance in software like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro is very important to me. I’m particularly interested in things like rendering speed, playback smoothness with high-resolution footage, colour accuracy, and overall reliability during longer editing sessions.
In addition to editing, I would also like to do some light to moderate gaming on the laptop from time to time, so gaming performance and compatibility are also factors I’m considering.
If anyone has used either of these devices or has insight into how they compare in real-world use. I’d really appreciate your input. I’m especially interested in any pros and cons, long-term usability, and whether one offers better value for what I’m trying to achieve.
Thanks in advance for your help!

‘My main focus is video editing, so performance in software like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro is very important to me.’- Do you value to be editing on the go or are mostly using it docked to a stand? If you value to be on the go and editing, go for the M5 max but if you docked most of the time go for the Asus proart.

‘light to moderate gaming on the laptop from time to time, so gaming performance and compatibility are also factors I’m considering.’- do the games you play have anticheat software (most common in online multiplayer) or just outright unsupported on mac which will require emulation (tools like crossover will be required for emulation). If your games have mostly anticheat software built in the go with proArt, if all the games you play are supported on mac and your comfortable with emulation tools then go with M5 max.

@W_Moseley Thanks for the advice, I currently dont have a workstation for docking, however I have a question why would it be better to get a pro art if I plan to dock. Also currently still checking if some of the games i would like to play would work on a mac
